Fun(d) Day is a time for the entire community to gather, have fun, eat some real good food and get great bargains.  Games & prizes for children of all ages .. Moon Walk!

The kick-off for the event begins Friday evening, June 1, with an advanced sale of rummage items from 5 pm – 8 pm.  Rummage will be displayed inside the church, outside tents and the garage.  Rummage items include used clothing, books, knick knacks, dishes, fabric, furniture, toys, small appliances, home decorations and more.  The food stand will be open and ready to serve hot dogs, hamburgers, hot sausage, salt potatoes and beverages.

On Saturday, June 2, the grounds will open at 9 am sharp!  The rummage sale continues indoors and outdoors.  The food stand will be open all day.  In addition to the food items above, there will be pizza frittes and sno cones.  The bake sale will be located indoors and will include various homemade treats.  The book room includes fiction, non-fiction, war history, cookbooks, self-improvement books and books for children of all ages.  There is a wide variety of paperback and hardcover crime and mystery novels this year.

The garage and tents outdoors will include rummage items and Bev’s Boutique which includes collectibles, antiques, glassware, new clothing, linens, and jewelry.  The chicken barbeque will be set up on the Center Street side of the church grounds.  The sales will begin at 11:00 am.  Along Clay Street there will be a tent with various games and prizes for the children of all ages, sports events and a Moon Walk.  Entertainment will be provided Saturday morning by Jim Harrison from 9 – noon.

The auction preview is from 9 am to noon.  The auction will begin at noon with auctioneer Gerald Petro.   There will be free drawings during the entire auction.  Every year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the community who donate items and help us during our Fun(d) Day activities.  Auction items include new items and gift certificates from local merchants.  Our big auction item this year is a 1978 Grady-White boat with a fiberglass transom, 75 HP Mercury motor and Load-Rite trailer.  We were also fortunate to receive items from a local estate including household items, tools, souvenirs from all over the world and old farm equipment.  Fliers with a partial list of auction items have been distributed throughout the north shore area.  Highlights include two ice shanties; fishing equipment; beer making equipment; beer advertising lights and signs; old metal toys and canon; postcards; GE “Six in one machine” circa 1950’s; tools; bottles; old military items; horse hitching posts; blanket box; antique and used furniture; glassware; 14 K diamond ring; jewelry; old horse drawn farming tools and tack; wood carvings by local resident Bill Mosher and many more items too numerous to list.

Place:  Chittenango, NY, the birth place of L. Frank Baum.
Note, this is not an "antiques show" .. just a show that ought to be on your "bucket list".
This year, the actress who served as the stand-on for Judy Garland on the set of the 1939 "Wizard of Oz" film, will serve as grand marshal of the 2011 Oz-Stravaganza parade. The theme is "Celebrating Dorothy", and we hope to see you there.

The Antique Show will be on the Harborfest events trolley route.

The Heritage Foundation of Oswego County (http://oswegocountyheritage.org/)  started their annual Antique Show during HarborFest in 1989.

The Heritage Foundation was established in 1962 to protect and promote the historic and architectural landmarks of Oswego County.  Urban Renewal projects demolished much of the commercial district of the east side of the city of Oswego.  A group of concerned citizens formed the foundation in an effort to preserve the remainder commercial 19th century buildings in downtown Oswego.

Visitors and exhibitors wishing to stay in the area are encouraged to visit the Oswego Chamber of Commerce website to review available area lodging and dining experiences. Come enjoy a quality antiques show.
