Location: 450 S. Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY 13212
Proprietors: Tom Miller and Mary MacBlane purchased the 1850's vintage residence at 450 S. Main Street in N. Syracuse on April Fools day in 1999, at auction by Bernie Brzostek. It seemed only appropriate that an antique shop be purchased at auction, and be in one of the oldest homes in the village! Serendipity opened the following November, and we welcome you to come and see what we have.
Tom has collected cut glass "crystal" for over 35 years and has a very nice selection at the shop. Glass makes a great gift for a special occasion today, like wedding or anniversary, as it was 100 years ago. Tom and Mary (husband & wife) live in antiques, mostly oak and Birdseye maple, with a couple mahogany pieces.
The store is opened from 11 am to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday, and is usually opened until 6 pm on Thursday and Friday. Tom can open early or stay late, just let him know you'd like to visit and can't get there during his normal hours. Since it is a family business, it would be good to call in advance if you are traveling a long way, especially if you will be arriving around closing time. Tom likes to sneak out early sometime, especially on golf night (Tues. in the summer) or when they go to Syracuse Stage or a Civic Center event.
Tom spends most of his day repairing and restoring items in the back of the store. In the beginning, most of the jobs were for the store, but now most of his time is committed to doing jobs for customers. He even carved a new couch foot for one customer, whose dog had pretty much eaten the original foot. Came out pretty good! Tom, who avoids public speaking, has given lectures on the history of glass to a BOCES class on antiques and the Onondaga County Antiques Dealers Association, to which they belong.

Tom also produces the Greater Syracuse Antiques Guide in the Spring each year, which you should find in every antique shop, auction house, flea market, .. in the area. He also owns and maintains this web site. Please get in touch with him if you'd like to be included.
Mary is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Upstate University Hospital. She loves her work, but also loves antiques and will usually be found in the store on a Saturday.
